I Am Ambulance

Project 1 at The Game Assembly, a subway surfer inspired 3D runner

Synopsis

Avoid obstacles and collect pills in a squishy ambulance as you speed down the lane to reach someone in need!

Development

I Am Ambulance is a 3D runner inspired by Subway Surfers. The game is made during 6 weeks by Frog Mob, a group of 14 students at the Game Assembly as their first game project.

Contributions

This first project at TGA was mostly focused around cooperation, using agile methodologies and SCRUM as part of our work flow. My primary contributions were UI, playing cinematics, level transitions and victory screens as well as configuring pickups as the points system in the game. I also did the tutorial floating text that rotates to the camera.
Some of the UI in game
Tutorial text and death screen
Picking up pills that are converted to points at next checkpoint

What I learned

Considering this was the first project at TGA and my first project in Unity, I gained a lot of insights into using Unity in game development and C# to create scripts. I also gained a deeper understanding for working in a team with other disciplines and using work trackers such as Perforce and YouTrack.
